During the 1960s and into the early 1970's, 3M produced a series of games aimed at an adult audience. These games featured fairly simple rules but complex game play and depth, with uniformly high quality components. The games covered a variety of topics, from business and sports simulations to word and abstract strategy. 3M produced games in several formats: the "bookshelf" line, a smaller line of mostly card games known as the "gamette" line, and a sports game line featuring a vinyl playing board wrapped around the box to hold the game components.
